New Year’s Open House and Toast at the Museum
Please join us on Saturday, January 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum for a special open house and reception to celebrate the New Year and officially close this year’s efforts to send greeting cards to active duty and retired military personnel.
Since November, students from Hulstrom Options School in the Adams 12 School District and museum visitors have been signing holiday cards for veterans and those currently serving in the military. Over 2,300 cards were sent to names provided by the public or distributed through contacts at federal agencies and military installations including Fort Carson and Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado, Cheyenne Veterans Administration Medical Center in Wyoming, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
You are invited to help the students complete the last of the holiday cards by writing New Year’s greetings and words of thanks to service members and veterans. There will be a nonalcoholic toast at noon. Take the opportunity to talk with local veterans and enjoy some refreshments. We hope to see you there.
