Afghanistan Photography Through the Eyes of a Soldier

Adam Nilson - Copy

11 July – Adam Nilson – Adam served in Afghanistan with the National Guard from 2010-2011 where he and nine other soldiers helped train 40 Afghan soldiers and worked with them on combat missions. He used his camera to photograph combat, the local dogs and fellow servicemen. Currently Adam is studying at CU Boulder and through photography he is able to share a little of what it feels like to be a veteran.

18 July – Rocky Mountain Honor Flight – Join Lou Barrientos, Bill Bacon, Bruce Rowe, and Bob Sherlock and others who recently participated in a Rocky Mountain Honor Flight to Washington DC to see the WWII, Korean, Vietnam War memorials and other national memorials. Learn how to apply to go on the flights or serve as an escort for returning veterans. Please note that this presentation will begin at 10:00AM on Saturday morning July 18th.

Art Classes for Veterans

Sally Bullers Pic

The Broomfield Veterans Museum Directors and Staff are pleased to announce “Interpreting our World”, Art Classes for Veterans, presented by local area artist Sally Bullers. Sally is prepared to pass on to our area veterans, her enthusiasm and creativity through her art. The participants will use acrylic paints (water based and easy to clean up) and work from photos. There will be an introductory session with more explanation about the classes so people can decide if they are interested. Sally would like to do 4 or 5, two to three hour sessions. No previous experience is necessary.

However, before we can commit to scheduling any of these classes, we need your input first so we can plan for our space and logistics needs. Please contact us at the Museum office at 303-460-6801, or email broomfieldveterans@gmail.com.

This should be a great opportunity for bonding with fellow veterans in fun and relaxing environment. We look forward to your response, and will communicate future schedules, as appropriate.
